After working at Deloitte (one of the Big four) as an audit for 3 years (2006-2009) and at a family business manufacturing company (2009-2010), I started working in the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) as a teacher and a researcher in 2010. I finalized my international PhD in Economics and Business Administration in 2016, after doing a research stay at the prestigious Lancaster University.
My interdisciplinary research is at the intersection of entrepreneurship, innovation and strategy, and my work focuses primarily on family businesses. My contributions include the following topics:
Entrepreneurship and innovation in family firms, including (a) differences in innovation input, process and output between family and non-family firms, (b) the influence of family governance on the organization of new product development programs, (c) the drivers of individual- and firm-level entrepreneurship in family firms, and (d) distinctive resources and capabilities that enable/constrain innovation in family firms.
Strategy, resources, board of directors and sources of sustainable competitive advantage in family firms.
My research has contributed to several top-level and prestigious journals such as Journal of Business Venturing, International in Entrepreneurship and Management, European Management Review, Review of Managerial Science, Australian Journal of Management, and International Business Reviews, among others.
