Professor of Cell Biology in the Department of Zoology and Animal Cell Biology. I teach lessons on molecular cell biology and histology in the BSc in Biology, Biotechnology and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I am also professor in four master programs: Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, EMJMD Marine Environment and Resources and International Master in Marine Biological Resources and EMJMD Environmental Contamination and Toxicology (ECT+). Currently, I am the International Coordinator of the EMJMD ECT+ and Director of the Master in Scientific Illustration.
I am the Head of the consolidated research group Cell Biology in Environmental Toxicology + One Heath and researcher at the Research Centre for Experimental Marine Biology and Biotechnology (PiE-UPV/EHU). My research activities are related to the study of the impact of pollution and environmental stress on aquatic organisms, and to the development of molecular and cellular biomarkers in response to contaminants. I am currently investigating the impact of pollutants with hormonal activity on fish and invertebrate populations, by studying changes in the transcriptome, hormonal physiology and tissue alterations in reproductive and endocrine organs.
Since 2016, I am the Vice dean for Basque Language and International Relations at the Faculty of Science and Technology.
