Graduated (2003) and PhD (2008) in Pharmacy at the UPV/EHU. Her thesis focused on the study of the expression and regulation of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) and GIRK potassium channels in the central nervous system, as well as their implications for the treatment of depression. During this period, she collaborated with the Institute of Biomedical Research of Barcelona (IIBB-CSIC) and was part of the Ciber-SAM.
Between 2009 and 2011, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Molecular, Cell & Systems Biology (University of Glasgow) under the supervision of Professor Graeme Milligan. She specialized in molecular pharmacology studying the interactions that control the GPCRs dimerization process.
Since 2005, she is professor at the University School of Nursing in Vitoria-Gasteiz and since the end of 2011, she works as professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, teaching the subjects of Pharmaceutical Technology and Management, Legislation, Planning and Deontology.
In addition, she is member of the NanoBioCel group (group A of the Basque university system), under the supervision of Dr Jose Luis Pedraz, is part of the Ciber-BBN, and gives technical assistance to the Nanbiosis platform (Drug Formulation). Her current lines of research focus on the development of advanced therapies based on the cell microencapsulation technique and 3D bioprinting for tissue regeneration.
