She is graduated in Pharmacy (2003) and PhD from the UPV/EHU (2009), awarded with Extraordinary Prize in both cases. She worked as research staff in the CIBER-bbn during 2008 and 2009. Her teaching activity began on 2009 and she is currently an associate professor at the UPV/EHU. She teaches in the degree in Pharmacy and in the Master's Degree in Pharmacology. Development, Evaluation and Rational Use of Medicines. She is also part of the teaching staff in the Doctoral Programme in Research and Evaluation of Drugs. Application of Pharmaceutical Technologies to the Development of Advanced Therapies at the UPV/EHU.
Her research, as a member of the research group of the Basque University System PharmaNanoGene, focuses on the development and evaluation of non-viral vectors for gene therapy and lipid nanoparticles for increasing the bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs, as well as on the pharmacotherapeutic evaluation of medicines. In the field of non-viral vectors she is co-inventor of two international patents. She has participated in 12 contracts with different pharmaceutical and biotechnological companies and in 16 research projects. She is member of the European COST Action 17103 (Delivery of Antisense RNA Therapeutics). She has supervised one PhD thesis, and she is co-author of 32 scientific articles in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) system, 4 book chapters, one book, and numerous communications to national and international congresses.
