I studied English Studies and a master degree about language acquisition at the University of the Basque Country. Immediately after that I started with my PhD. My doctoral dissertation focused on the role played by English as a third language in a university that was already bilingual with Basque and Spanish. I stayed at a Gaelic-medium university in the Isle of Skye (Scotland) to observe other European settings in which a minority language is used as a medium of instruction. I got my international PhD degree in 2014. After that, I had different jobs always related to language and education: I was a lecturer at the teacher training degree in Mondragon University, I worked as a "Basque technician" in a region of Navarre, I was a lecturer at the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (UNIR), and taught Basque Language and Culture in Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris) thanks to the Etxepare Institute. Since September 2017 I have been a lecturer and researcher at the UPV/EHU, in the Department of Basque Language and Communication. I started to do research on the Basque informal form of address hika together with my colleage Garbiñe Bereziartua. We have published our works in both local and international journals, and we disseminate issues related to hika in our website www.hitanoaz.eus. We have also presented our work in different conferences these last years.
