María Luz Alvarez is a Permanent Professor in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at the University of the Basque Country (EHU/UPV). She obtained a Physic Degree from the University of the Basque Country in 1990, a Master’s in Advanced Manufacturing Technology in 1994 and a Ph.D. in Control Engineering, Robotic and Automatic from the same University in 2015. She has worked as a lecturer and researcher in the Automatic Control and Systems Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering in Bilbao. Since 2011, she has been a member of the Systems Control and integration Research Group (GCIS) and has taken part as a researcher in different projects related to communications, control systems for flexible manufacturing systems and software engineering. Currently, her main research interests deal with the industrial control systems in the context of Industry 4.0.
