Agurtzane Múgica graduated in Chemistry (with a minor in Macromolecules) from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), San Sebastián in 1995. Later she obtained a PhD in Chemistry from the same University working in a theoretical and experimental study of miscibility and interactions in polymer blends, under the supervision of Prof. M. Cortazar.

She is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Polymer Science and Technology, Faculty of Chemistry, UPV/EHU and teaches Physical Chemistry and Polymer Science at both undergraduate and graduate level. She is also a member of the Research Institute for Polymer Materials (POLYMAT).

She has co-authored more than 40 publications in international peer review journals and has participated in several international Congresses (35). She has directed 7 End-of-Master Theses and two Doctoral Theses.

Her current research interests are focused on the following topics: thermal properties, morphology, nucleation, crystallization and crystallization kinetics of semi-crystalline materials and of multiphasic materials (in particular polymer blends, block copolymers, biopolymers and nano-composites). She is member of the research group Advanced Multiphasic Polymers (AMP) in BERC-Polymat .
