Liher graduated in Chemistry in 2012 at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), carrying out an Erasmus stay at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK) under the supervision of Prof. Craig Jamieson with the aim of developing new AMPA Receptor modulators. The training continued with the Master in Synthetic and Industrial Chemistry with a research project aimed at the use of unconjugated dienals as trienamine precursors and their reactivity in enantioselective Diels-Alder reactions under the supervision of Prof. José L. Vicario and Prof. Luisa Carrillo at the Department of Organic Chemistry II of the UPV/EHU. It was in the same research group where PhD studies focused on the development of "Non-Conventional Reactivity Patterns in Asymmetric Organocatalytic Cycloadditions" were started leading to the award of PhD degree (2017) with mention of "Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado" (2019) and International PhD, consequence of a stay at The Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla,CA) in the laboratories of Prof. Phil S. Baran studying ring strain-driven reactivity. After a period as a postdoctoral researcher in the group of José L. Vicario, a postdoctoral fellowship funded by the Basque Government was obtained to carry out research at the University of Toronto (ON, Canada) under the supervision of Prof. Mark Lautens with the aim of developing multi-catalytic and cascade processes. In 2018 Liher joined the Department of Organic Chemistry II at UPV/EHU as an assistant profes
