She studied a Degree in Pharmacy (2005) and Biochemistry (2007) from the University of the Basque Country - Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU). As part of her doctoral training, she completed the Master's in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine (2007-2008, UPV/EHU). She defended the international doctoral thesis entitled Membrane activities of proapoptotic BAK and antiapoptotic MCL-1 (11/12/2013) in Basque and English under the supervision of Dr. Gorka Basañez at the Instituto Biofísica (CSIC-UPV/EHU). Professor at this university since 2015.
She is co-author of nine scientific articles, about 30 contributions in national and international congresses and she has participated in nine research projects. She has been a guest researcher at Max-Planck Institute (Heidelberg) during 6 months of her predoctoral period. Her line of research focuses on the study of the mechanisms of action of proteins of the BCL2 family at membrane level using biophysical and biochemical techniques in both reconstituted in vitro and cellular systems.
