She received the M.Sc. degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of the Basque Country, Bilbao (Spain) in 2004. From that year to mid-2007 she worked at Gamesa Eólica and at GFI Norte, participating in different engineering projects.

From 2007 to 2011 she enjoyed a predoctoral fellowship in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications of the ETSI of Bilbao. At this stage she began to research in the Applied Photonics Group (group A of the Basque university system) developing her doctoral thesis and taking part in numerous research projects, international, and national and international conferences and workshops.

As of 2011, she began to teach at the Department of Applied Mathematics of the School of Engineering of Bilbao while continuing with her research work. In 2014 she obtained her PhD degree for her thesis entitled Study and characterization of multicore plastic optical fibers. In 2015 she obtained a position as Associate Professor in the same department where, in addition to teaching different subjects, she is part of a Structured IKD group, she has participated in different international conferences on teaching, in an Educational Innovation Project and she has been academic coordinator of First Year of the Degree in Computer Engineering Management and Information Systems.

Her current scientific interests are the study and manufacture of microstructured plastic fibers and their use in different applications.
