Description and Contextualization of the SubjectToggle Navigation

This subject is not taught in English this academic year.

The subject covers the basic concepts and competencies needed to understand the complex current economic reality and to analyze government economic policies in a guided manner. In order to position students with criteria in the context of today's market economies the principles, advantages and disadvantages are analyzed. Likewise, the four fundamental macroeconomic problems are identified and studied: unemployment, inflation, economic crises, and external balance in order to define the role of the public sector in the economy.

Furthermore, students are introduced to the knowledge of the company as an economic unit of production and distribution, and as an organizational system. The subject is related to applied statistics and biostatistics when, after data collection, analysis through statistical models is required.

Given the breadth of knowledge that can be covered within this discipline, and taking into account the temporal allocation granted by the Curriculum, a selection of topics is made taking into account the profile of the students, the academic year in which the subject is taught, and the competencies of the degree program.
