Chemical Sciences Bachelor, UPV/EHU, 1982; Chemical Sciences PhD, UPV/EHU, 1991. In 1987 she obtained a position as Lecturer and in 1993 she was appointed Associated Professor. Visiting Professor at the University of Western Ontario (Canada) in 2002. She currently teaches undergraduate degrees in the Chemical Engineering and Environmental Department at the Faculty of Engineering Bilbao.

She is currently researching on topics related, mainly, to catalytic cracking and hydrocracking of both refinery streams (heavy gas oils) and residual products, such as plastics, pyrolysis oil from tires, bio-oil, etc., in order to integrate the valorisation of those wastes with refinery processes either to recycle the wastes or to take advantage of lignocellulosic biomass products in the case of bio-oil. She also collaborates in a line of research to obtain hydrogen by dimethylether and ethanol reforming with steam.

Author of more than 30 papers indexed in the JCR and more than 100 conference communications, she has participated in more than 25 competitive research projects and contracts. 4 six-year periods positively evaluated by the Spanish CNEAI.

She is full member, since its foundation, of the research group Catalytic Processes and Waste Valorisation (PROCAT-VARES), group A of the Basque University System.
