Description and Contextualization of the SubjectToggle Navigation

Third Language II: Arabic Language is a 6-credit elective subject included in different degrees: Philology, English Studies, Basque Studies and Translation and Interpretation.

It is a subject that contributes to the training of students to expand their knowledge for their future professional practice.

Learning the Arabic language does not only involve knowledge of a new language but is related to other objectives: acquiring awareness of the multiculturalism of the society in which we live, understanding the culture of other countries, so close to us and so far away. at the same time and achieve integration and equality.

Skills/Learning outcomes of the subjectToggle Navigation

Introduce the student to the knowledge of basic nominal morphology and the elementary phrases of the Arabic language. To do this, we will develop a theoretical and practical knowledge of the main morphological variations of the standard Arabic language. The student must gradually acquire fluency in reading and vocabulary of the Arabic language, as well as ease in searching for words in Arabic language dictionaries.

Program

There will be a theoretical and practical review of the contents of level I.

• THEORETICAL CONTENT:

1. Nominal morphology:

1.1. Name and adjective: determination and indetermination (article, construct state “idafa”, personal pronoun affix or suffix), gender, number, case.

1.2. Nominal sentence.

1.3. Pronouns and demonstrative adjectives.

1.4. Elative (comparative, superlative). Diminutive.

1.5. Relatives.

1.6. Verb to have". Prepositions.

2. Verbal morphology:

2.1. Verb: accidents of the verb, derived forms, nominal forms.

2.2. Denial.

23. Introduction to irregular verbs.

2.4. Verbal sentences: coordinated, subordinate, complex, negative, interrogative, exclamatory (vocative).

3. Ordinal, cardinal numerals, date, time.



• PRACTICAL CONTENT:

1. Basic vocabulary.

2. Development of the four basic skills.

For the study and learning of the subject Arabic Language II, a cooperative methodology will be used in class with the use of didactic strategies appropriate to the level of this course that allows students to acquire the necessary skills.

  • Tools and qualification percentages:
    • Written test to be taken (%): 80
    • Oral defense (%): 10
    • Realization of Practical Work (exercises, cases or problems) (%): 10

Ordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation

The test to be developed consists of a written exam, which corresponds to 80% of the grade, a reading exam, corresponding to 10% of the grade, and an essay with the final 10% of the grade.

The minimum grade to pass the subject will be a 5 in the final calculation.

Extraordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation

The test to be developed will consist of a written exam that will correspond to 100% of the final grade.

The minimum grade to pass the subject will be a 5 in the written exam.
