Santiago de Pablo is professor in Contemporary History at the University of the Basque Country (Spain), and was visiting scholar at the Center for Basque Studies (University of Nevada Reno, USA) in 2009-2010. He specializes in political history of the Basque Country and in film history. His books include 'El Péndulo Patriótico. Historia del Partido Nacionalista Vasco' (1999-2005, several editions); 'Tierra sin paz: Guerra Civil, cine y propaganda en el País Vasco' (2006), 'The Basque Nation on Screen: Cinema, Nationalism and Political Violence in the Basque Country' (2010), and 'La Patria Soñada. Historia del Nacionalismo Vasco desde su Origen a la Actualidad' (2015). He has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals, along with chapters in different books, published both in Spain and in other countries. He has presented his research in conferences all over the world, and is also editor of the Basque academic journal 'Sancho el Sabio'. He has been historical advisor and scriptwriter of many historical documentaries for TV and cinema, such as 'The Basque Swastika' (2013).
