Description and Contextualization of the SubjectToggle Navigation

Introduction to the Language of the Arts is a basic subject in the first year of the degree that is taken in the first four-month period. Its aim is to offer a formal approach to art, and it must be taken by students of History, Geography and Art History. The aim of the subject is to identify and analyse the characteristics of sculpture, painting and architecture. The practical part will be of great importance in the organisation of the programme.

MethodologyToggle Navigation

Teaching-learning activities:

A dual methodology will be used:

A. Lecture: the lecturer will present the theoretical contents of the subject (students will be able to ask questions and raise doubts). The lecturers will explain the basic contents of the subject, such as the development of group work, the methodological guidelines for in-class and out-of-class practices and the group and individual work of the students.

B. Practical: practical sessions carried out in the classroom and field practices.

Both teachers and students will participate; the analysis of different works of art will be carried out:

- Face-to-face (students and teaching staff both in the classroom and in the library):

- Formal comments on works of architecture.

- Formal comments on sculptural works.

- Formal comments on works of painting.

- Iconographic commentaries.

- Semi-attendance (students will carry out the proposed work in front of the teacher and independently without being in front of the teacher).
