Description and Contextualization of the SubjectToggle Navigation

A basic subject in the first year (first four-month period) which aims to consolidate knowledge of the standard language and which is compulsory in the degrees of Translation and Interpreting, Philology, English Studies, Basque Studies, History of Art, History and Geography and Territorial Planning.

It reviews spelling, punctuation, grammar and syntax of the A language, which will enable students to prepare and understand different types of texts.

This subject continues with Oral and Written Expression II (except for the degrees of History, History of Art and Geography and Land Planning).

COMPETENCIES

M01CM01: Oral and written command of one's own language. It corresponds to the competences of the degree G003 and G005.



LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon successful completion of the subject, students will be able to:

-Know the normative features of the language and explain its grammar.

-Acquire the necessary skills to revise, correct and produce written and oral texts correctly.

-Increase students' communicative competence, especially during their academic stage.

-Theoretical-practical classes.

-Group activities for solving tasks, correcting errors and carrying out assignments.

Ordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation

The assessment in the ORDINARY CALL is CONTINUOUS and will be based on the following criteria:



1. Submission of assignments, work or practical work both inside and outside the classroom (they will measure the application of skills and involvement in the subject, as well as the levels of location, assimilation and synthesis of bibliographical sources): 30 %.



2. One or more written tests to be taken throughout the four-month period (measuring levels of theoretical and practical knowledge and written expression). This test is compulsory and must be passed in order to pass the course: 70 %.



Students who waive the CONTINUOUS EVALUATION MAY SUBMIT TO THE FINAL EVALUATION,

In this exam, they will be assessed for 100% of the course by means of a written exam that will not only cover the contents of the course, but also the compulsory readings proposed in the ‘Student's Guide’.

Extraordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation

Everything related to the methodology and evaluation of the subject will be specified in detail in the ‘Student Guide’ that the teacher will upload to the eGela platform at the beginning of the term. Therefore, students who opt for this call are recommended to consult both the eGela platform and their email account, provided by the UPV/EHU when enrolling.

The evaluation of the EXTRAORDINARY CALL will be carried out on the official date indicated by the centre by means of a written exam equivalent to 100% of the subject; the exam will evaluate the contents of the subject and the compulsory readings.

As the course progresses, the teacher will upload materials, instructions, readings and exercises necessary for the subject to the eGela platform, so students are advised to consult both the eGela platform and the email account provided by the UPV/EHU when enrolling.
