Graduated in Classical Philology from EHU / UPV (1988) and Doctor in Classical Philology specializing in Greek Philology from EHU / UPV (2009). He has been Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Letters (2011-2013) and Director of Universities of the Department of Education, Language Policy and Education of the Basque Government from January 22, 2013 to January 28, 2017. He was also Campus Coordinator Virtual of the EHU / UPV in the Faculty of Letters from 2009 to 2011, and Secretary of the Board of Directors of the European Society of Modern Greek Studies from September 2010 to September 2014. He has participated in different research projects in Greek philology, a subject on which he has published different articles and made presentations and communications at national and international conferences. He has edited handwritten texts by Byzantine Greek authors. He has translated classical Greek works into Spanish and Basque, and medieval and modern Greek texts into Spanish.
