Description and Contextualization of the SubjectToggle Navigation

This course is an introduction to Data Analysis and Statistics focusing on basic concepts and techniques that are most used in Economics. With a practice-oriented approach, students will learn to interpret and communicate statistical results and to apply it to the design, development and analysis of simple research studies in Economics.

Skills/Learning outcomes of the subjectToggle Navigation

1. Capacity for information management: Includes the ability to search, handle and present relevant information from different sources, as well as the use of the necessary ICT tools.

2. Ability for abstraction and critical reasoning: The modeling and data analysis of real problems requires a high capacity for abstraction, as well as the and data analysis of real problems. Critical reasoning is necessary to make necessary to make interpretations and establish conclusions and solutions with scientific rigor.

3. Capacity for updating and self-learning: This includes the capacity to search for resources that allow the solution of real problems, search for resources to help in the solution of new problems or new techniques, in a scientific and technological environment.

Assessment systemsToggle Navigation

  • Continuous Assessment System
  • Final Assessment System
  • Tools and qualification percentages:

CONTINUOUS EVALUATION:

The student will be able to choose continuous evaluation, in which activities and tasks will be proposed to obtain between 10% and 30% of the final grade (to be specified in the Egela student's guide). In addition, the student must take the final exam to obtain the remaining 90%-70% of the final grade. The points obtained in the continuous evaluation will only be added to the final grade if the student has obtained a minimum grade in the final exam, which will be specified in the Egela

student's guide.

Students may waive the continuous evaluation atlatest one month before the end of the teaching period. This waiver must be submitted in writing to the teacher responsible for the course.

In the case of having waived the continuous evaluation, failure to take the final written test will result in a grade of not submitted or not presented.

FINAL EVALUATION:

As stated in the Student Evaluation Regulations, students have the right to be evaluated by means of the final evaluation system, regardless of whether or not they have participated in the continuous evaluation system. The final evaluation will be by means of a final written exam. In the event that the health situation requires it and the the final exam cannot be taken in person, the procedure specified in the student's guide in eGela will be activated for such exams.
