Leire Urcola Carrera is Full Professor in Applied Economics V at the Economics and Business Faculty (UPV/EHU). She received the Degree in Computer Science from the University of Deusto (1991) and the PhD degree in economics from the University of the Basque Country (2006). She hold a Master in Computer Science and Technology from the Faculty of Computer Science (1992, UPV/EHU) and Diploma of Advanced Studies in Computer Science and Complex Systems (1998).

During her academic career, she has taught subjects related to her academic training. From 2013 to 2017, she belonged to the Management Team and participated in numerous research projects mainly related to software engineering and ICT aplication to the university and enterprise.

Research interests are primarily in the areas of digital transformation projects, business intelligence systems, Big Data, Virtual Learning Environments and Mobile Learning.
