Born in Bilbao, where he studied and obtained a Ph.D. Degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Deusto.
Javier is Professor at the UPV-EHU (University of the Basque Country) where he teaches in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the School of Architecture in Donostia-San SebastiƔn. Javier specialized in the relationship between Art & Science, dynamical systems including fractals and chaos, parametric programming of complex shapes and the scientific analysis for the structural maintenance and repair of heritage buildings. Javier Barrallo has written over 100 papers and books, collaborated in 15 interventions on historical heritage buildings, organized 12 International Conferences and events and arranged 30 international exhibitions.
