Begoña has a degree in Computer engineering from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), where she also obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science . She spent a period of 6 months at ERJI (Marseille), thanks to a grant from the COMETT program granted by the EEC Commission. She worked for three years (90-93) as head of the IT Department at DDC, S.A. company in Irún.

She has a Master's Degree in Computer Science and Technology from the UPV / EHU (93-94). She obtained a research grant from the UPV / EHU (94-97). She worked as a regulated training teacher for a year (98/99), and since 2000 she has been professor and researcher at the Faculty of Computer Science of UPV/EHU.

She has post-graduate teaching experience in the University Master's Degree in Embedded Systems Engineering and in the Master's Degree in Computer Engineering. In the degree of Computer Engineering she has taught different subjects: Compilation, Human-Computer Interaction, Software Quality, Abstract Computational Methods, Informatikaren Oinarriak and Abstract Computing Models. She has been director of 28 final degree projects.

She has participated in 10 research projects. She is coauthor of 27 articles, presentations to conferences and book chapters. Her research concerns Human Computer Interaction (model-based interactive systems design, usability evaluation methods) and Hybrid Methodologies: agile-user centered. In education, her current research interests involve e-learning and formative evaluation.
