Description and Contextualization of the SubjectToggle Navigation

The teaching of the subject AUDIOVISUAL CREATION TECHNIQUES (ACT), located in the first year of the Bachelor’s degree of Journalism, Audiovisual Communication and Advertising and Public Relations, takes place during the second quarter of the course. It is a basic subject for the acquisition of the theoretical and practical foundations that will later be worked on in other subjects of higher courses. The objective of this subject is to train students to develop the ability to create and carry out innovative audiovisual projects.

This course is closely linked to and complements 'Audiovisual Language', a subject taught in the first four-month period of the first year. Audio-visual Creation Techniques' is also a first approach to other subjects, especially in the Audiovisual Communication degree, such as 'Processes of Audiovisual Creation', 'Realization I', 'Realization II' or 'Multimedia Editing and Production'.

On the other hand, ACT provides the theoretical and practical tools essential for the professional work that students of the Bachelor’s degree of Journalism, Audiovisual Communication and Advertising and Public Relations and the double degrees offered in these subjects will develop in the future. It contributes, therefore, in an essential way, to the professional training of the students.

PRACTICAL CONTENT

The practical part of the course consists of the development of a series of exercises that will complement and enable the application of the knowledge presented in the lecture classes.

MethodologyToggle Navigation

The teaching of the subject AUDIOVISUAL CREATION TECHNIQUES involves a total of 150 hours, distributed in 80 hours of lectures (32 hours of classroom teaching and 48 hours of non-classroom activity of the student) and 70 hours of practice (28 classroom hours and 42 non-classroom hours).

In the lecture classes, the theoretical foundations of the subject are explained with the support of graphic and audiovisual material. In the practical sessions the students will elaborate different exercises closely linked to the contents developed in the lectures and which are aimed at completing their training.

Assessment systemsToggle Navigation

  • Continuous Assessment System
  • Final Assessment System
  • Tools and qualification percentages:
    • Portfolio (%): 60
    • Exercises and written tests (%): 40

Ordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation

The course has a theoretical-practical approach, so the evaluation of the subject will be carried out both through theoretical exams and practical exercises carried out throughout the term.

-The work carried out in the practical sessions will represent 60% of the final grade (6 points out of 10);

- The remaining 40% (4 points out of 10) will consist of exercises and written tests on the contents worked throughout the term.

IMPORTANT CLARIFICATIONS:

1.- In order to pass the subject, both parts (written test and practical) must be passed independently. Failing the written and/or practical test will be equivalent to the overall grade of the course being 'Failed'. If in the ordinary call a student passes one of the two evaluated sections (written exam or the portfolio) but not the other, the positive result obtained for the extraordinary call of the current academic year will be kept, so that he/she will only have to take the part he/she has not passed.

2.- According to the Regulations on Student Assessment, students who wish to abandon the continuous assessment and adhere to the final exam to pass the subject must submit in writing to the faculty responsible for the subject the refusal to the continuous assessment within the period stipulated in the regulations.

The final exam will consist of a written exam and the elaboration of a portfolio that will contain the exercises set by the teaching staff of the course. Also in this case the written exam will represent 40% of the final grade, the portfolio 60% and both parts must be passed independently to pass the course.

3.- According to the Regulations for Student Evaluation, students may renounce to the call within the period stipulated by the regulations in force. The waiver must be submitted in writing to the teacher responsible for the subject.

In the case of students taking the final exam, it will be sufficient not to take the exam set on the official date of the evaluation exams.

The percentages and evaluation tools corresponding to each of the sections of the subject may be modified if an exceptional situation arises during the development of the academic year.

This evaluation system will be applied both on-site and off-site, if the situation so requires, although the percentages and evaluation tools corresponding to each of the sections of the course may be modified if an exceptional situation arises during the development of the academic year.

Extraordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation

The extraordinary call will be developed following the same guidelines and the same evaluation system established for the final exam of the ordinary call of the course.
