Description and Contextualization of the SubjectToggle Navigation

The subject "Musical Present" is an elective in the second cycle of the Art History degree belonging to the Music module. It represents continuity in content and methods with the mandatory second-year subject "Music, Culture and Society", insisting in this case on the study of current musical practices.

To take this subject, no other requirement is established other than having taken the mandatory second-year subject or another similar one at another university. An open attitude towards the temporal nature of music and its relationship with the world of theater, dance, cinematography and the other stage arts that were worked on in said subject is considered necessary.

In the context of a degree in Art History, it is expected that a student who takes the subject of "Musical Present" will obtain a certain degree of basic knowledge of the multiple processes that come together today in musical events and the trends that are emerging. They may perceive in them that it may be useful in professions related to cultural management.
