LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE:
It is expected that students, upon completion of the course, will have acquired the competencies outlined for the subject. These competencies will enable them not only to interpret creative pieces and establish relationships with other forms of imagery but also to undertake their own audiovisual creation projects.

THEORETICAL PROGRAM
1. Video, creation, experimentation: the roots of video art. Definition of concepts.
2.Video in its historical context. Experimental precedents in avant-garde movements. Emergence of television and its relation to art. Relationship with cinema.
3. Diverse practices surrounding video creation. Happenings, performance, and body art. Video installation. Music videos/videoclips. Other contemporary practices.
4. Experimentation in the digital age. Internet and new experimental territories. New directions in narrative development.
PRACTICAL PROGRAM
1. Students will engage in exercises (both group and individual) on topics covered in the theoretical program.
2. The final project must be presented in class to be eligible for grading.
MethodologyToggle Navigation
LECTURE:
The lecture sessions will incorporate screenings of pivotal works that reinforce and illustrate the theoretical concepts.
PRACTICAL CLASSES:
During practical sessions, various audiovisual creation exercises related to the topics covered in the lectures will be conducted.
Within the laboratory practice schedule, students will have access to the space and equipment necessary for the development of exercises and the final project.
Assessment systemsToggle Navigation
Given the nature of this course, a continuous assessment system is adopted.
Evaluation breakdown:
* In-class exercises and presentations: 50%
* Individual final project: 30%
* Portfolio: 20%
This assessment system will be applied both in face-to-face and remote modalities.
In accordance with article 8.3 of the Student Evaluation Regulations, students wishing to opt out of continuous assessment and take the final exam must submit a written request to the course instructor within the first nine weeks from the start of the semester, i.e., before November 10, 2017 (or March 23, 2018, for second-semester courses).
According to article 12.2 of the Student Evaluation Regulations, students may withdraw from the examination within one month before the end date of the teaching period, i.e., before November 23 (or April 19 for the second semester). Withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing to the course instructor.
