CAREER
Associate professor in the Department of Contemporary History of the UPV/EHU since 2016, where he has developed his teaching and research activity since the year 2010.
Degree in History from the UPV/EHU (2006), Master in Contemporary History from the UPV/EHU (2007), Master in secondary school teacher-training from the UPV/EHU 2007) and PhD in Contemporary History from the UPV/EHU (2014) with an international mention and an extraordinary doctoral prize (2016).
He won a Basque Government pre-doctoral grant in the 2009 call, and thanks to this was able to make a stay as a guest researcher at the University of Nevada (2013). He later obtained two post-doctoral grants in the UPV/EHU that enabled him to make stays as a guest researcher at the University of Santa Barbara, California (2015-2016). He has also been a guest researcher at the Università de Messina (Italy, 2017).
He has been an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Letters since 2016. Together with his teaching activities in undergraduate studies, he has taught in the Faculty of Social and Communication Sciences of the UPV/EHU (2017-2019). He has participated in courses and seminars at the University of Nevada (2013), at the University of California, Santa Barbara (2015 and 2016), at the Universidad de Valencia (2017) and at the Universitat de les Illes Balears (2017). He has directed 6 Final Projects for undergraduate courses and one Final Project for a Master.
He develops his research activity in the consolidated research group “Biography & Parliament”, specialising in the areas of cultural policies and republicanism, historical memory and the analysis of elites through collective biography and prosopographical analysis. He has participated as a researcher in 22 research projects and contracts, collaborated on several collective books and written numerous articles for specialist journals in Spain and the United States.
In 2016 in recognition of his research career he was nominated for the year’s best essay in the Literature Prizes of Euskadi in the essay section. Additionally he has participated on the scientific committee and editorial committees of several specialist journals since the year 2016.
In the management field he is the Section Secretary and Coordinator of the Teaching Team of the Section of the Department of Contemporary History in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
