CAREER
Tenured Professor of the History of Science (History of Medicine and Science) at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) since the year 2000, where he has developed his teaching and research activity.
Degree in medicine from the Universidad Autónoma de Bilbao and PhD in medicine from the Universidad de Salamanca (1983); Diploma in Documentation and Management of Historical Patrimony from Deusto University (1998); Diploma in Health(1981); practiced as a specialist doctor in family and community medicine (1994).
He practiced as a doctor in the public health services and in the private sector (1977-1997); he has been the Director of the Basque Museum of the History of Medicine and Science since 1998. He was Vice-chancellor of the University of the Basque Country (2004-2005); Section Vice-president and President of Eusko Ikaskuntza (1997-2002 and 1988-1993); Member of the Interregional Committee of the Ethnographic Atlas of Vasconia (1990-2018) and of other research projects and groups in the field of the history of medicine and ethnography.
His research career has been positively evaluated with three research sexennia. His teaching career has been evaluated with 5 teaching quinquennia.
He has participated in Congresses, Exhibitions, the Mass Media, etc.
He is the author of 150 articles,replicas de relojes book chapters and books on the History of Diseases, Medical Anthropology, History and Museology.
