And it came to pass when Israel had made an end of slaying all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness where they pursued them, and when they all had fallen by the edge of the sword until they were consumed, that all the Israelites returned to Ai and struck it with the edge of the sword.

So it was [that] all who fell that day, both men and women, [were] twelve thousand -- all the people of Ai.

For Joshua did not draw back his hand, with which he stretched out the spear, until he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai.

Only the livestock and the spoil of that city Israel took as booty for themselves, according to the word of the LORD which He had commanded Joshua.

Josuek Ai hiria erre eta zeharo hondatua utzi zuen, hondakin-pilo bihurtua betiko; eta horrela dirau gaur arte.

Josué quemó a Hai y la redujo a un montón de escombros, desolada para siempre hasta hoy.

Josué brûla Aï, et en fit à jamais un monceau de ruines, qui subsiste encore aujourd'hui.

So Joshua burned Ai and made it a heap forever, a desolation to this day.

And the king of Ai he hanged on a tree until evening. And as soon as the sun was down, Joshua commanded that they should take his corpse down from the tree, cast it at the entrance of the gate of the city, and raise over it a great heap of stones [that remains] to this day.

Now Joshua built an altar to the LORD God of Israel in Mount Ebal,

Burdinazko tresnaz landu gabeko harri soilez egina zen, Moisesek, Jaunaren zerbitzariak, israeldarrei agindu bezala, beraren lege-liburuan idatzia dagoenez. Aldare gainean erre-opariak eta elkartasun-opariak eskaini zituzten.

como Moisés, siervo de Jehová, lo había mandado a los hijos de Israel y como está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés: un altar de piedras enteras sin labrar. Ofrecieron sobre él holocaustos a Jehová y sacrificaron ofrendas de paz.

comme Moïse, serviteur de l'Éternel, l'avait ordonné aux enfants d'Israël, et comme il est écrit dans le livre de la loi de Moïse: c'était un autel de pierres brutes, sur lesquelles on ne porta point le fer. Ils offrirent sur cet autel des holocaustes à l'Éternel, et ils présentèrent des sacrifices d'actions de grâces.

as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the Book of the Law of Moses: "an altar of whole stones over which no man has wielded an iron [tool."] And they offered on it burnt offerings to the LORD, and sacrificed peace offerings.

And there, in the presence of the children of Israel, he wrote on the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he had written.

Israeldar guztiak, etorkin nahiz bertako, beren arduradun, funtzionario eta epaileekin batera bildurik, kutxaren bi aldamenetan zeuden zutik, Jaunaren itun-kutxa zeramaten apaiz lebitarren aurrean: herri erdia Garizim mendi aldera zegoen eta beste erdia Ebal mendi aldera. Todo Israel, tanto los extranjeros como los naturales, con sus ancianos, oficiales y jueces, estaba de pie a uno y otro lado del Arca, en presencia de los sacerdotes levitas que llevaban el Arca del pacto de Jehová. Then all Israel, with their elders and officers and judges, stood on either side of the ark before the priests, the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, the stranger as well as he who was born among them. Half of them [were] in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded before, that they should bless the people of Israel.

And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and the cursings, according to all that is written in the Book of the Law.

There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded which Joshua did not read before all the assembly of Israel, with the women, the little ones, and the strangers who were living among them.

And it came to pass when all the kings who [were] on this side of the Jordan, in the hills and in the lowland and in all the coasts of the Great Sea toward Lebanon -- the Hittite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite -- heard [about it,]

But when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and Ai,

they worked craftily, and went and pretended to be ambassadors. And they took old sacks on their donkeys, old wineskins torn and mended,

old and patched sandals on their feet, and old garments on themselves; and all the bread of their provision was dry [and] moldy.

Gisa horretan, Josuerengana Gilgaleko kanpalekura joan eta berari eta gainerako israeldarrei esan zieten: -Urrutitik gatoz, gurekin bake-hitzarmena egin dezazuen eskatzera.

Al llegar a Josué al campamento en Gilgal, les dijeron a él y a los de Israel: -- Nosotros venimos de una tierra muy lejana; haced, pues, ahora una alianza con nosotros.

Ils allèrent auprès de Josué au camp de Guilgal, et ils lui dirent, ainsi qu'à tous ceux d'Israël: Nous venons d'un pays éloigné, et maintenant faites alliance avec nous.

And they went to Joshua, to the camp at Gilgal, and said to him and to the men of Israel, "We have come from a far country; now therefore, make a covenant with us."

Israeldarrek ihardetsi zieten hibiarrei: -Nork daki inguru hauetakoak ez ote zareten? Nola egin hitzarmena zuekin?

Los de Israel respondieron a los heveos: -- Si habitáis en medio de nosotros, ¿cómo, pues, podremos hacer alianza con vosotros?

Les hommes d'Israël répondirent à ces Héviens: Peut-être que vous habitez au milieu de nous, et comment ferions -nous alliance avec vous?

Then the men of Israel said to the Hivites, "Perhaps you dwell among us; so how can we make a covenant with you?"

Haiek, ordea, esan zioten Josueri: -Zeure zerbitzari gaituzu. Josuek galdegin zien: -Nortzuk zarete eta nondik zatozte?

Ellos respondieron a Josué: -- Nosotros somos tus siervos. -- ¿Quiénes sois vosotros, y de dónde venís? -- les dijo Josué.

Ils dirent à Josué: Nous sommes tes serviteurs. Et Josué leur dit: Qui êtes-vous, et d'où venez -vous?

But they said to Joshua, "We [are] your servants." And Joshua said to them, "Who [are] you, and where do you come from?"

Haiek erantzun zioten: -Oso urrutitik gatoz, entzuna baitugu Jaunaren, zure Jainkoaren, izen handiaren berri. Jakin dugu Egipton egin zuena

Ellos respondieron: -- Tus siervos han venido de tierra muy lejana a causa del nombre de Jehová, tu Dios, pues hemos oído de su fama, de todo lo que hizo en Egipto

So they said to him: "From a very far country your servants have come, because of the name of the LORD your God; for we have heard of His fame, and all that He did in Egypt,

"and all that He did to the two kings of the Amorites who [were] beyond the Jordan -- to Sihon king of Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, who was at Ashtaroth.

"Therefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spoke to us, saying, 'Take provisions with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say to them, "We [are] your servants; now therefore, make a covenant with us." '

"This bread of ours we took hot [for] our provision from our houses on the day we departed to come to you. But now look, it is dry and moldy.

Estos odres de vino también los llenamos nuevos, y ya están rotos. También estos nuestros vestidos y nuestros zapatos están ya viejos a causa de tanto caminar.

Ces outres à vin, que nous avons remplies toutes neuves, les voilà déchirées; nos vêtements et nos souliers se sont usés par l'excessive longueur de la marche.

"And these wineskins which we filled [were] new, and see, they are torn; and these our garments and our sandals have become old because of the very long journey."

Then the men of Israel took some of their provisions; but they did not ask counsel of the LORD.

Josuek bake-hitzarmena egin zuen haiekin, bizia errespetatuko ziela aginduz. Elkarte-arduradunek ere zin egin zieten.

Josué hizo la paz con ellos; también celebró con ellos una alianza concediéndoles la vida y los príncipes de la congregación hicieron un juramento.

Josué fit la paix avec eux, et conclut une alliance par laquelle il devait leur laisser la vie, et les chefs de l'assemblée le leur jurèrent.

So Joshua made peace with them, and made a covenant with them to let them live; and the rulers of the congregation swore to them.

Hitzarmena egin eta handik hiru egunera, ordea, israeldarrek jende hura inguru hartan bizi zela eta auzoko zutela jakin zuten.

Tres días después que hicieron la alianza con ellos, supieron que eran sus vecinos y que habitaban en medio de ellos.

And it happened at the end of three days, after they had made a covenant with them, that they heard that they [were] their neighbors who dwelt near them.

Car les enfants d'Israël partirent, et arrivèrent à leurs villes le troisième jour; leurs villes étaient Gabaon, Kephira, Beéroth et Kirjath-Jearim.

Then the children of Israel journeyed and came to their cities on the third day. Now their cities [were] Gibeon, Chephirah, Beeroth, and Kirjath Jearim.

No los mataron los hijos de Israel por cuanto los príncipes de la congregación les habían jurado por Jehová, el Dios de Israel. Toda la congregación empezó a murmurar contra los príncipes;

Ils ne les frappèrent point, parce que les chefs de l'assemblée leur avaient juré par l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, de leur laisser la vie. Mais toute l'assemblée murmura contre les chefs.

But the children of Israel did not attack them, because the rulers of the congregation had sworn to them by the LORD God of Israel. And all the congregation complained against the rulers.

Hauek esan zioten elkarteari: "Zin egin genien Jaunaren, Israelen Jainkoaren, izenean, eta ezin diegu orain kalterik egin.

pero todos los príncipes respondieron a la congregación: -- Nosotros les hemos jurado por Jehová, Dios de Israel; por tanto, ahora no los podemos tocar.

Et tous les chefs dirent à toute l'assemblée: Nous leur avons juré par l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, et maintenant nous ne pouvons les toucher.

Then all the rulers said to all the congregation, "We have sworn to them by the LORD God of Israel; now therefore, we may not touch them.

Horra zer egingo dugun: Egin diegun zinarengatik, bizirik utziko ditugu, Jainkoak zigor ez gaitzan.

Esto haremos con ellos: los dejaremos vivir, para que no venga sobre nosotros la ira por causa del juramento que les hemos hecho.

Voici comment nous les traiterons: nous leur laisserons la vie, afin de ne pas attirer sur nous la colère de l'Éternel, à cause du serment que nous leur avons fait.

"This we will do to them: We will let them live, lest wrath be upon us because of the oath which we swore to them."

Bizi daitezela! Baina egurgile eta ur-ekarle izango dira elkarte osoarentzat". Horrela, eutsi egin zioten arduradunek gabaondarrei emandako hitzari.

De ellos dijeron, pues, los príncipes: "¡Dejadlos vivir!, pero que se constituyan en leñadores y aguadores para toda la congregación", concediéndoles así la vida, según les habían prometido los príncipes.

Ils vivront, leur dirent les chefs. Mais ils furent employés à couper le bois et à puiser l'eau pour toute l'assemblée, comme les chefs le leur avaient dit.

And the rulers said to them, "Let them live, but let them be woodcutters and water carriers for all the congregation, as the rulers had promised them."

Josuek gabaondarrei dei egin eta esan zien: -Zergatik engainatu gaituzue urruti bizi zinetela esanez, hemen, gure artean, bizi zaretelarik?

Josué los llamó y les dijo: -- ¿Por qué nos habéis engañado diciendo: "Habitamos muy lejos de vosotros", siendo que vivís en medio de nosotros?

Josué les fit appeler, et leur parla ainsi: Pourquoi nous avez-vous trompés, en disant: Nous sommes très éloignés de vous, tandis que vous habitez au milieu de nous?

Then Joshua called for them, and he spoke to them, saying, "Why have you deceived us, saying, 'We [are] very far from you,' when you dwell near us?

Madarikatuak izan zaiteztela! Esklabo izango zarete betiko: ene Jainkoaren etxerako egurra egin eta ura ekarri beharko duzue.

Ahora, pues, malditos sois, y nunca dejará de haber de entre vosotros siervos, ni quienes corten la leña y saquen el agua para la casa de mi Dios.

Maintenant vous êtes maudits, et vous ne cesserez point d'être dans la servitude, de couper le bois et de puiser l'eau pour la maison de mon Dieu.

"Now therefore, you [are] cursed, and none of you shall be freed from being slaves -- woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God."

Ellos respondieron a Josué: -- Como fue dado a entender a tus siervos que Jehová, tu Dios, había mandado a Moisés, su siervo, que os había de dar toda la tierra, y que había de destruir a todos los habitantes de la tierra delante de vosotros, por esto temimos mucho por nuestras vidas a causa de vosotros, e hicimos esto.

Ils répondirent à Josué, et dirent: On avait rapporté à tes serviteurs les ordres de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, à Moïse, son serviteur, pour vous livrer tout le pays et pour en détruire devant vous tous les habitants, et votre présence nous a inspiré une grande crainte pour notre vie: voilà pourquoi nous avons agi de la sorte.

So they answered Joshua and said, "Because your servants were clearly told that the LORD your God commanded His servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you; therefore we were very much afraid for our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

"And now, here we are, in your hands; do with us as it seems good and right to do to us."

Hala egin zuen Josuek. Libratu egin zituen israeldarren eskuetatik, hil ez zitzaten;

Él hizo así con ellos, pues los libró de manos de los hijos de Israel y no los mataron.

Josué agit à leur égard comme il avait été décidé; il les délivra de la main des enfants d'Israël, qui ne les firent pas mourir;

So he did to them, and delivered them out of the hand of the children of Israel, so that they did not kill them.

baina elkarte osoarentzako eta Jaunaren aldarerako, Jaunak aukeratuko zuen tokian, egurgile eta ur-ekarle izatera behartu zituen. Eta eginkizun hori bera dute gaur egun ere.

Aquel día Josué los destinó a ser leñadores y aguadores para la congregación y para el altar de Jehová, en el lugar que Jehová eligiera. Eso son hasta hoy.

mais il les destina dès ce jour à couper le bois et à puiser l'eau pour l'assemblée, et pour l'autel de l'Éternel dans le lieu que l'Éternel choisirait: ce qu'ils font encore aujourd'hui.

And that day Joshua made them woodcutters and water carriers for the congregation and for the altar of the LORD, in the place which He would choose, even to this day.

Cuando Adonisedec, rey de Jerusalén, oyó que Josué había tomado a Hai y la había asolado (como había hecho con Jericó y con su rey, así hizo con Hai y su rey), y que los habitantes de Gabaón habían hecho la paz con los israelitas y estaban entre ellos,

Adoni-Tsédek, roi de Jérusalem, apprit que Josué s'était emparé d'Aï et l'avait dévouée par interdit, qu'il avait traité Aï et son roi comme il avait traité Jéricho et son roi, et que les habitants de Gabaon avaient fait la paix avec Israël et étaient au milieu d'eux.

Now it came to pass when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had taken Ai and had utterly destroyed it -- as he had done to Jericho and its king, so he had done to Ai and its king -- and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were among them,

that they feared greatly, because Gibeon [was] a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it [was] greater than Ai, and all its men [were] mighty.

Therefore Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish, and Debir king of Eglon, saying,

"Come up to me and help me, that we may attack Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel."

Y los cinco reyes amorreos, el rey de Jerusalén, el rey de Hebrón, el rey de Jarmut, el rey de Laquis y el rey de Eglón, se juntaron y subieron con todos sus ejércitos, acamparon cerca de Gabaón y pelearon contra ella.

Cinq rois des Amoréens, le roi de Jérusalem, le roi d'Hébron, le roi de Jarmuth, le roi de Lakis, le roi d'Églon, se réunirent ainsi et montèrent avec toutes leurs armées; ils vinrent camper près de Gabaon, et l'attaquèrent.

Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, [and] the king of Eglon, gathered together and went up, they and all their armies, and camped before Gibeon and made war against it.

Entonces los habitantes de Gabaón enviaron a decir a Josué al campamento en Gilgal: "No niegues ayuda a tus siervos; sube rápidamente a defendernos y ayudarnos, porque todos los reyes amorreos que habitan en las montañas se han unido contra nosotros".

Les gens de Gabaon envoyèrent dire à Josué, au camp de Guilgal: N'abandonne pas tes serviteurs, monte vers nous en hâte, délivre -nous, donne-nous du secours; car tous les rois des Amoréens, qui habitent la montagne, se sont réunis contre nous.

And the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal, saying, "Do not forsake your servants; come up to us quickly, save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the mountains have gathered together against us."

Josue, gudaroste osoa, bere gudari adoretsuak, harturik, abiatu egin zen Gilgaldik.

Josué subió desde Gilgal junto con toda la gente de guerra y con todos los hombres valientes,

Josué monta de Guilgal, lui et tous les gens de guerre avec lui, et tous les vaillants hommes.

So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor.

y Jehová le dijo: "No les tengas temor, porque yo los he entregado en tus manos y ninguno de ellos prevalecerá delante de ti".

L'Éternel dit à Josué: Ne les crains point, car je les livre entre tes mains, et aucun d'eux ne tiendra devant toi.

And the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not fear them, for I have delivered them into your hand; not a man of them shall stand before you."

Gilgaldik atera eta, gau osoan ibili ondoren, ustekabean eraso zien Josuek errege amortarrei.

Josué cayó sobre ellos de repente, tras haber caminado toda la noche desde Gilgal.

Joshua therefore came upon them suddenly, having marched all night from Gilgal.

L'Éternel les mit en déroute devant Israël; et Israël leur fit éprouver une grande défaite près de Gabaon, les poursuivit sur le chemin qui monte à Beth-Horon, et les battit jusqu'à Azéka et à Makkéda.

So the LORD routed them before Israel, killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, chased them along the road that goes to Beth Horon, and struck them down as far as Azekah and Makkedah.

Israeldarrengandik ihesi Bet-Horon aldapan behera zihoazelarik, Jaunak izugarrizko kazkabarra bota zien amortarrei gainera, Azekara heldu ziren arte, eta asko hil ziren. Jende gehiago hil zuen kazkabar-harriak israeldarren ezpatak baino.

Mientras iban huyendo de los israelitas, a la bajada de Bet-horón, Jehová arrojó desde el cielo grandes piedras sobre ellos hasta Azeca, y murieron. Fueron más los que murieron por las piedras del granizo que los que los hijos de Israel mataron a espada.

Comme ils fuyaient devant Israël, et qu'ils étaient à la descente de Beth-Horon, l'Éternel fit tomber du ciel sur eux de grosses pierres jusqu'à Azéka, et ils périrent; ceux qui moururent par les pierres de grêle furent plus nombreux que ceux qui furent tués avec l'épée par les enfants d'Israël.

And it happened, as they fled before Israel [and] were on the descent of Beth Horon, that the LORD cast down large hailstones from heaven on them as far as Azekah, and they died. [There were] more who died from the hailstones than the children of Israel killed with the sword.

Jaunak amortarrak israeldarren eskura eman zituen egun hartan, Josuek Jaunari otoitz egin zion, israeldarren aurrean oihukatuz: "Eguzki, geldi Gabaon gainean, eta zu, ilargi, Aialon haran gainean!"

Entonces Josué habló a Jehová, el día en que Jehová entregó al amorreo delante de los hijos de Israel, y dijo en presencia de los israelitas: "Sol, detente en Gabaón, y tú, luna, en el valle de Ajalón".

Alors Josué parla à l'Éternel, le jour où l'Éternel livra les Amoréens aux enfants d'Israël, et il dit en présence d'Israël: Soleil, arrête -toi sur Gabaon, Et toi, lune, sur la vallée d'Ajalon !

Then Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: "Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon."
