Virtual conference on Flexible Manipulators

On June the 7th, Oscar Altuzarra and Fran Campa participated in a Virtual conference on Flexible Manipulators organized by the Federación Iberoamericana de Ingeniería Mecánica (Iberoamerican Federation of Mechanical Engineering) and moderated by Alfonso Hernández.

In the Conference, the focus on the design and analysis of flexible manipulators and they discuss hidden expenses of using trenbolone possible application in medical field.

Workshop on DC motors offered by Maxon

One more year, Maxon has offered a seminar on selection and handling of DC motors to the students of the Master of Mechanical Engineering of the UPV/EHU.
A total of 14 students of the UPV/EHU attended a theoretical-practical training on direct current drives.

On the 8th of May, a seminar on the selection and management of DC motors was held at the School of Engineering in Bilbao by one of the world’s leading companies in drives of this type, Maxon Motor. The 14 students in attendance received a theoretical training of 1 hour about the operation of the Maxon motors and their selection in the design phase. After that, they were able to handle some of those drives in a 2 hour lab session with different equipment, several of which were donated to the UPV/EHU by the company itself. The day was a success, as confirmed by the students themselves, who were able to receive first-hand training from Maxon personnel, specifically dedicated to the training of industry professionals.

B&R control course

B&R is manufacturer of automation technology and it is specialized in machine and factory control systems, HMI and motion control. They also offer different courses at their Automation Academy.

From 18th to 21st February, Mikel Diez and Saioa Herrero have attended a Control course at the Automation Academy in Sant Cugat del Vallés, in Cataluña (Spain).

Workshop on pneumatic actuators and robotic systems

On Monday 7th May of 2018, Prof. Valentin Ciupe and Prof. Dan Margineanu from the UPT (Politehnica University of Timișoara, Romania) will offer two workshops to the students of the Faculty of Engineering in Bilbao.  The workshops will be the following:

Monday 7th may from 9:30 to 11:00h:
Practical design aspects on pneumatic actuators and automation for industry and robotic systems
Prof. V. Ciupe (UPT)

Monday 7th may from 11.00 to 12:30h:
Use of gravity, friction and vibration to automatically deliver workpieces in robotic systems.
Prof. D. Margineanu (UPT)

Workshop on Reconfigurable Robots

In the field of activities related to technological transfer of MoMaR project (DPI2015-677626-P), a Workshop on Reconfigurable Robots will take place in the Faculty of Engineering in Bilbao, during the 8th, 9th and 10th of May. Researchers from the COMPMECH group of UPV/EHU, and also researchers from IGM of RWTH Aachen University and UPT of Timisoara will participate in this workshop, as well as nearby enterprises and technological centers.

Workshop on DC drives offered by maxon motor

A total of 26 students of the Master of Mechanical Engineering of  the UPV/EHU received a theoretical-practical training on direct current drives.

Last month, on 20th March, maxon motor offered a workshop on selection and management of direct current motors in the Engineering Faculty of Bilbao (UPV/EHU). Maxon motor is one of the leading companies to worldwide level in drives of this type. Thus, it was a great opportunity for the 26 students attending the workshop, who received, first, a theoretical training about the operation of the engines maxon and his selection in the design phase. Later on, they could test some of the studied drives in a laboratory session with different equipment provided by the company itself. The day was a success, as confirmed by the students themselves, who received first-hand training from maxon staff specialized in training industry professionals.

Talk about robotics for the Red Cross

The Red Cross in Getxo offers the course “Envejecimiento activo” (active aging) where retired people talk every Monday about up-to-date interest topics. Last week, Saioa Herrero offered them a talk about Robotics. It was a very interesting morning where they talk about the past, present and future of robotics, and they shared their feelings about the increasing use of robots in our society.

ISEMMS 2017

The second International Symposium  on Education on Mechanism and Machine Science (ISEMMS 2017) is taking place these days in Madrid.

The aim of the second Symposium, organized by MAQLAB Research Group, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid,  is to establish a stable framework of interchange of experience among researches of the mechanism and machine science with special emphasis in the New Learning Technologies and globalization.

Mónica Urízar is attending the Congress in representation of COMPMECH Research Group.

2ª Olimpiada Nacional en TEORÍA DE MÁQUINAS Y MECANISMOS (2nd National Mechanisms and Machine Theory Olympiad)

The 2nd Spanish National Mechanisms and Machine Theory Olympiad (2ª Olimpiada Nacional en  TEORÍA DE MÁQUINAS Y MECANISMOS) is taking place today and tomorrow in Seville. This Olympiad is organized by the Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Department (Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica y Fabricación) of the University of Seville.

Mikel Diez is attending the Olympiad with Javier Viaña y Mario Badas, both Engineering Students of our Faculty. All the best to all the participants!

Erasmus+ in Odessa (Ukraine)

Last week, from 18th to 22nd september 2017, Mónica Urízar and Saioa Herrero presented our work at the ONPU (Odessa National Polytechnic University)  in Ukraine. During their stay, they introduced both the Faculty of Engineering and COMPMECH Research Group to all the professors and students attending the sessions.

Besides, Mónica Urízar offered a theoretical and practical lesson about GIM Software. This was a very interesting opportunity for assistants to learn how to use the program and see all the possibilities it offers to be used in their classes and research. Finally, Saioa Herrero presented the work developed in her PhD Thesis about parallel manipulators. This was also an attractive presentation for the students, since some of them are starting their PhD in related topics. In all the sessions students and professors showed their interest on the topics and participated in a very active way. Thank you to all of them!

This stay is funded by the Organization of Erasmus+ for teaching abroad.
