IGONE PALACIOS

Dr. Palacios-Agundez is Lecturer of Experimental Science Didactics at the Faculty of Education of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), where she teaches and researches on Science Education, STEM Education, Education for Sustainability and Intercultural Inclusive Education. She is also a member of the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Development and Environmental Education at the same university where, since 2016, she co-directs the research area in Education for Sustainability.

She is involved in several research projects covering evidence-based design of teaching- learning sequences at university level, the study of the transformative potential of teaching the ecosystem service concept towards sustainability, and the development of place-based education activities that promote STEM and sustainability competences.

Examples include the participation in an ERASMUS+ project to implement the Sustainable Development Goals in schools through citizen science, and in CBL and IKD3 university projects on Education for Sustainability (EfS) and educational innovation that use the Ecological Garden of the Alava Campus (HECA) as an educational and research context.
