The Chair has set itself the challenge to step up research and specialized studies on Sustainability and Environmental Education from an interdisciplinary perspective, encompassing natural and social sciences. Our working methodology involves collaboration between the world of academia, social and political stakeholders, and society in general, as all activities are aimed at contributing to the solution of real problems.
The research projects are aimed at understanding and solving problems related to sustainable development in the Basque Country and particularly in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve, the territory of which it is hoped will serve as an area for testing and demonstrating experiments. Scientific cooperation and the transfer of results and experiments related to sustainable development is also advocated through the Chairs Network and the World Network of Biosphere Reserves, both run by UNESCO, as well as other academic and scientific networks.
