On March 17, via videoconference, the Chair participated in the 4th meeting of the Multi-Actors Group of Bizkaia of the SINCERE project, (Spurring INnovations for forest eCosystem services in Europe), a four-year project financed through the Horizon 2020 program of the European Commission, which seeks to promote innovation with respect to environmental or ecosystem services provided by forests in Europe.
From 2018 to 2022, the SINCERE project will seek to develop new policies and new business models connecting knowledge and practical experience, science and politics, both in Europe and beyond.
The Provincial Council of Bizkaia is a partner of this European project, within the framework of which it is interested in developing a case study consisting of the creation of a new legal framework for forests and forestry that aims to implement the provision, valorization and monitoring of ecosystem services in the legislation of Bizkaia.
In this meeting, the progress made in the pilot project that is being carried out in Berriatua was reported and the vision and comments that may arise from the participants in the meeting were also collected.
