Arantza Gorostiaga received her degree in Economics (Quantitative Economics mention) from Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea. From 1994 to 1996 she took the Máster en Economía y Finanzas at Centro de Estudios Monetarios y Financieros (CEMFI) which completed with a distinction for the best academic performance. Arantza was a Ph D student at CEMFI from 1996 to 1999 and received her doctorate degree in Economics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in October 1999.

She was part of the faculty of the Department of Economics at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in 1999 and 2000. In 2011, she joined the Departamento de Fundamentos del Análisis Económico II at UPV/EHU.



Arantza has published her research at Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Public Economic Theory, International Tax and Public Finance, Neurocomputing and Pattern Recognition, among others. She has visited Northwestern Universtity and Harvard University as invited researcher. She has been a member of research teams getting funds from the Spanish Government and the Basque Government since 2001.

She served as secretary and treasurer of the Spanish Economic Association from 2009 to 2013 and is a Fellow of the society since 2014.
