Leire Azcona Uribe graduated in Architecture at the University of the Basque Country in 2003 and finished her PhD in 2016 with the thesis Typological aspects of post-war social housing (1939-1959).

She is a lecturer in Building Technologies in the Department of Architecture at the UPV/EHU since 2010. She is currently Coordinator of the Creative Innovation and Research Minor and Academic Secretary of the Architecture School since February 2022. She is member of the Association of Historians of Architecture and Urbanism since 2017.

Member of the COAVN since 2005, she has worked as an architect between 2004 and 2018, working together with other architects in architecture projects, both new buildings and refurbishment.

Between 2010 and 2021, she has participated in five research projects, two of them competitive. She has attended four congresses, two of them international, and written eight contributions, being the main author of two of them. Her research interest are varied: collective housing in the 20th century (post-war period) typology and construction systems; sustainable refurbishment; new technologies in architecture (BIM) and their application in rehabilitation; teaching innovation in architecture.
