Ainhoa Álvarez got a BSc(Hons) in Computer Studies by the university of Brighton and a Computer Science Engineer degree by the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU where she received the Ph.D. degree in 2010. She is currently an senior lecturer in the Computer Languages and Systems Department of the UPV/EHU. She has taught different teaching subjects, both in the degree and master's degrees, associated to areas such as Programming, Databases, Recommender Systems and Artificial Intelligence.
Since the year 2000 she is member of the GaLan research group of the UPV/EHU (https://galan.ehu.eus), in which she has developed her research work in the interdisciplinary area of Educational Computing. This group is currently integrated in the Adian consolidated research group (Basque Government). Currently, her research lines are mainly related to areas such as learning analytics, recommender systems or in educational computing aspects related to the use of technologies for the teaching of engineering.
Related to this last research line, she has coordinate diverse educational innovation projects. She is member of the ITForja teaching team, recognized as a structured team by the UPV/EHU, and she coordinates the educational innovation team eForja (https://www.ehu.eus/es/web/eforja).
