AimsToggle Navigation
The learning outcomes of the course are the following:
- Knowledge for practical application of the basics of Thermodynamics/Thermal Engineering, for the professional development of engineering in the field of Energy
- To apply the scientific methodology in Thermodynamics: to solve, by writing the starting hypotheses, both qualitatively and quantitatively, the problems of Thermodynamics and Thermal Engineering.
- Using the specific terminology of thermodynamics, presenting the necessary diagrams and diagrams, as well as the necessary explanations
- To work effectively in groups, in a balanced way, in the resolution of works related to Thermal Engineering.
- Draw, within the development of the questions that arise, trajectories of quality and environmentally correct solutions.
_______________
The competences of the degree program are as follows:
C3- Knowledge in basic and technological subjects, which enables them to learn new methods and theories, and gives them the versatility to adapt to new situations.
C4- Ability to solve problems with initiative, decision making, creativity, critical reasoning
and to communicate and transmit knowledge, skills and abilities in the field of Industrial Engineering.
C12 - Adopt a responsible attitude, orderly at work and willing to learn, considering the
challenge posed by the necessary continuous training
C13- Apply the strategies of the scientific methodology: analyze the problematic situation qualitatively and quantitatively, propose hypotheses and solutions using the models of industrial engineering
C14- Work effectively in a group integrating skills and knowledge to make decisions in the field of industrial engineering

MethodologyToggle Navigation
The Cooperative Learning (CL) and Project Based Learning (PBL) methodologies will be used as the guiding line of the work to be done in the course to develop the competencies and learning objectives.
the work to be done in the course to develop the competences and learning objectives indicated, since it is a methodology that allows the active involvement of the student in the process of learning.
The teaching, both in the lectures and in the classroom practices, will be done in a collaborative way with the students, so that they will be actively involved in the learning process.
students will work in groups of 3/4 students formed by the teacher at the beginning of the course. The first part will consist most of the time of an exposition of the subject and then the contents of these expositions will be worked on.
We will work on different methodologies such as reverse classroom, puzzles, cooperative work, problem solving.
Computer practices will be carried out, using the Software EES, Termograf or Matlab, in which the calculation and analysis of thermodynamic processes will be carried out.
analysis of the thermodynamic processes corresponding to the subject that is being worked on in the master classes and in the classroom.
At the end of the four-month period there will be an individual exam, consisting of practical exercises and a theoretical section, composed of questions to be developed and/or short
of questions to be developed and/or short or multiple choice questions.
Assessment systemsToggle Navigation
The CONTINUOUS EVALUATION will be compulsory, except for those students who justify it adequately. It will consist of:
1- Assignments and deliverables that will have a joint valuation of 40% of the total. In order to pass the course in the the continuous evaluation, the student will have to have more than 5 out of 10.
2- Report of the practices related to the transmission of heat, carried out in groups, 15%. In order to pass the course in the continuous evaluation, the student must have more than 5 out of 10.
3- Resolution of problems by means of computer programs, which will be carried out in the computer classroom, will have a valuation of 15 %. In order to pass the course in the continuous evaluation, the student must have more than 5 out of 10.
4- Theoretical-practical written exam, the valuation will be 30% of the total. It will consist of practical exercises and of a theoretical section, composed of questions to develop and / or short questions or type test. the student will have to have more than 5 out of 10.
_____________________
Students who have requested, in accordance with the Regulations, the non-participation of the continuous evaluation, will have a final exam in the ordinary call. It will consist of:
1- Theoretical-practical written exam, 85 % of the total. It will consist of practical exercises and a theoretical section, composed of questions to be developed and/or short or multiple-choice questions.
The student will have to obtain a grade of 5 out of 10 to be able to carry out the exercise in the computer classroom.
2- Presential exercise to be carried out in the computer classroom, 15 %.
The grades obtained in the tests carried out in the continuous evaluation will not be taken into account.
_______________
In any case, students will have the right to be evaluated through the final evaluation system, regardless they have participated in the continuous evaluation system.
To do so, the student must submit in writing to the the teachers responsible for the subject to cancel the continuous evaluation, for which they will have a period of 9 weeks for the four-month subjects.( counting from the beginning of the term or year respectively)
