Competences of the degrees in Audiovisual Communication and Advertising and Public Relations:



1. Acquire knowledge and understand the meaning and relevance of theories, concepts and methodologies in the context of the (inter)disciplinary field of audiovisual communication.



2. Analyze, interpret, explain and critically evaluate facts, social processes, texts and communicative projects.



3. Apply theories and methodological tools to practice in different communicative processes and contexts.



4. Search, select, hierarchize and analyze information and documentation in different sources, adapting its content to different forms and narrative strategies.



5. Communicate and expose, fluently, effectively and in an argued way, projects, achievements and results of work and research in different genres, formats and media.



6. Acquire knowledge and understand the meaning and relevance of theories, concepts and methodologies in the context of the (inter)disciplinary field of communication and especially of the techniques of advertising and public relations.



Competences of the degree in Journalism:



1. Analyze, interpret and explain social facts and processes from the knowledge and methodologies of the social sciences (Sociology, Economics, Law, Contemporary History) in the context of the work of the media.



2. Search, select, hierarchize and analyze in different sources adapting their contents to narrative forms and strategies.



3. Express themselves with fluency and communicative efficiency in oral and written form, knowing how to take advantage of the linguistic resources that are most appropriate to the different media.



The specific competences of the subject are:



C1CC01 - Reflect, understand and identify the main theories, ideas and concepts of historical, economic and linguistic thought, applied to the knowledge of communicative phenomena.

C1CC05 - Develop skills and abilities for active participation, collaboration and co-responsibility in teamwork.



C1CC06 - Search, select, hierarchize and analyze information and documentation in different sources, adapting its content to different narrative forms and strategies.



The transversal competences are:

The learning outcomes of this subject will be specified in the students' ability to deal with any type of audiovisual discourse with a critical spirit. They must be able to understand and recognize the resources of audiovisual language, as well as its possibilities when elaborating a discourse. They must acquire sufficient skills to be able to unravel the resources that the author has used and the meaning they entail depending on the context, culture, etc., when faced with any audiovisual text.

PRACTICAL SYLLABUS



The practical exercises are detailed in the student's guide.



MethodologyToggle Navigation

This course has 4 hours per week of which three are theoretical and one is practical. For classroom practices the group is subdivided in two (GA1 and GA2). In the theoretical classes, the master class is worked with the support of graphic and audiovisual material. In the classroom practices different exercises are proposed to the students to complete their training.



The methodology used in this subject involves several strategies aimed at the acquisition of the aforementioned competences and learning outcomes:



1. Acquiring working tools for reflection on audiovisual products.



-Knowledge transmission through the master class that will be complemented with materials (articles, books, links of interest) that will be made available to the students.



2. Identify the perceptual, symbolic and cultural values that help to interpret and analyze the signs and codes of the visual and audiovisual image.



-Through the reading of texts and images, previously selected for this purpose, examples are shown that allow students to reflect and recognize the different perceptual, symbolic and cultural values.



3. Recognize the resources and techniques of audiovisual language.



-The teacher, with the help of audiovisual material, explains to the students the different resources and techniques.

-The students, once they have internalized the techniques and resources explained in class, must apply this knowledge to recognize the resources of audiovisual language in the examples provided for this purpose.



4. Analyze, discuss and interpret audiovisual texts.



-The acquisition of skills in the analysis of texts will be carried out through the analysis and interpretation of an audiovisual text, which must conform to the guidelines established by the teacher.

CONTINUOUS EVALUATION:



It consists of two tests detailed below:



1. Completion and presentation of practical work and assignments: 30%.



2. Theoretical-practical exam: 70%.



In order to pass the continuous evaluation it is mandatory to pass both the exam (questionnaire and applied or theoretical-practical test) and the practical tasks.



The detailed description of both the theoretical tests and the practical section will be specified in the student's guide of each group.



Clarifications:



Article 8.3. Evaluation systems.



"In any case, students will have the right to be evaluated through the final evaluation system, regardless of whether or not they have participated in the continuous evaluation system. To this end, students must submit in writing to the faculty responsible for the subject the waiver of continuous assessment, for which they will have a period of 9 weeks for quarterly subjects and 18 weeks for annual subjects, counting from the beginning of the quarter or course respectively, according to the academic calendar of the center. The teaching guide of the subject may establish a longer term."



FINAL EVALUATION:



It consists of an exam that represents 70% of the grade and a practical section that represents 30%. The teaching guide for each group will specify the contents of the exam and the nature of the practical section. To pass the final evaluation it is essential to pass all these tests to demonstrate that they have acquired the same skills as the students who have completed the continuous evaluation.
