Basque Microalgae Culture Collection (BMCC)
The Basque Microalgae Culture Collection (BMCC) maintains over 600 strains of marine and freshwater microalgae and cyanobacteria, mostly from the Basque Country.
The BMCC was officially registered in 2020 in the World Federation for Culture Collections (WFCC). The surveys about haptophytes are the beginning of the collection (Seoane et al. 2009). Later, strains of the rest of phytoplankton groups have been added, mainly cryptophytes, dinoflagellates, chlorophytes, diatoms and cyanobacteria.
BMCC collection is growing monthly, check in the catalogue or contact them in order to find a strain. The cultures are provided alive, as 10 ml inoculums. For larger volumes contact the BMCC staff
