Pamela RUIZ RODRIGUEZ

Assistant professor at the University of the Basque Country (UPVEHU) in the Cell Biology Area of Zoology and Animal Cell Biology Dpt. (2021- to present), but  her teaching activity began in the same department as research teaching staff (PDI) in 2016. Academic Coordinator of the Histology undergraduate course (Biology Degree; UPV/EHU) since 2017. Lecturer in the “Environmental Contamination and Toxicology” Master (2008-2011). He has supervised 6 BSc research projects and 2 Master thesis in Environmental Contamination & Toxicology.  She has graduated in Biological Sciences in 2005 at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). In 2008, she obtained MSc degree and in 2013 PhD in Environmental Contamination and Toxicology at the Department of Zoology and Animal Cell Biology of the University of the Basque Country. Her thesis was entitled “Cancer development in bivalve molluscs in relation with chemical pollution” (international PhD with Cum Laude mention). During her PhD she studied the molecular and cellular mechanisms of disseminated cancer in marine molluscs, it also allowed her to carry out different stays in national and international laboratories in order to expand her knowledge and participate in different projects. She has carried out research stays at diferents institutes such as, University of Sussex, Universitè de Bretagne occidentale, International Research Institute of Stavanger; Finnish Institute of Marine Research and Laboratorio de patología del Centro Investigacións Mariñas. She has been researcher of the Group Cell Biology in Environmental Toxicology (CBET+) since 2007. In this period, she has collaborated in different research National or/and European/International projects such as IMPRES-ETORTEK, CANCERMAR,  NANOCANCER, PRAGMA, AMMONTOX. As results of her participation in these projects, she has published 13 articles in scientific journals (Q1), 5 proceedings and 14 gene sequences related with cancer mechanisms in cockles and turbot in the Genbank database (NCBI). Moreover, she has presented more than 20 contributions to national and international congresses (1 invited).
