Endika QuintanoLecturer in Botany and Researcher. BSc in Biology from the University of the Basque Country (2008) and PhD in Biology from the University of the Basque Country (2014). He works since 2010 as researcher in the Department of Plant Biology and Ecology at the University of the Basque Country (UPV / EHU). He belongs to the Marine Benthos research Group UPV/EHU and his research has focused on two major branches. On the one hand, he has studied the ecophysiological responses of different macroalgae species in relation to different environmental variables. On the other hand, he has investigated the effects of the climate change and pollution on the structure and functioning of seaweed communities. He has published 12 scientific articles (H-index: 6) and has presented 16 congress communications. He was researcher in the projects ‘KEGOKITZEN’ and “Decline of the subtidal beds of Gelidium corneum in the western Cantabrian Sea under the impact of climate change. The first one was financed by the Basque Government and focused on studying the impact of climate change on benthic communities. The second one, was financed by the UPV/EHU and focused on assessing the ecophysiological effects of climate change a structural macrophye. In addition, Endika has studied the effects assessment of the Port of Bilbao enlargement works, the long-term effect assessment of the effluent from the Petronor refinery, the long-term assessment of the incidence of sanitation sewage plans on the Abra de Bilbao and the effect assessment of sewage discharge from several treatment plants along the Basque coast. Since 2016, he has co-directed three final master projects and seven final degree projects.
