Lecturer at the University of the Basque Country (UPVEHU) in the Cell Biology Area of Zoology and Animal Cell Biology Dpt. (2008-). Member of the Cell Biology and Environmental Toxicology Consolidated research group of the UPV/EHU (2001-). In charge of the experimental aquatic unit of the Research Centre for Experimental Marine Biology and Biotechnology (Plentzia Marine Station) since its creation in 2012. Coordinator of Comparative Histology course in the Biology Degree of UPV/EHU, and the course Fish and Shellfish Reproduction in the Erasmus Mundus MSc in Marine Environment and Resources (MER; MEC Quality Award, 2008-2012). Basque Government predoctoral fellowship (2001-2005). European PhD Thesis with extraordinary award “Contribution to the interpretation of lysosomal biomarkers in marine organisms based on the mechanistic understanding of the lysosomal responses to pollutants” at the University of the Basque Country (2008). Pre-doctoral studies at the “Bioimaging Laboratory” of the University of Wales (Aberystwyth) in electron microscopy. Expertise: Toxicology, Pollution monitoring, Biomarkers in fish and molluscs, Natural variability, lysosomal biomarkers, Immuno-histology and histopathology, tissue-arrays. Supervised 10 Degree research works, 8 Master Thesis & 2 PhD Thesis + 2 PhD ongoing. 20 articles and 10 book chapters/proceeding, >60 international conferences. 32 projects (researcher) + 10 research contract (4 Principal Researcher). Member of Scientific societies: (SICTA, ESCPB, SETAC).
